Local activist will be organizing a demonstration outside Mesa Community College's Biotechnology Symposium. Rafiq Islam, Ph.D., Associate Director Immunochemistry Services at Covance Labs will be speaking along with others on April 26. Covance [www.covancecruelty.com]―has been cited by the USDA for putting animals in cages that are too small, and for yelling, hitting, and using unnecessary force on primates (I am still working with this activist on a specific time―the conference is 8:30a-2p but she will be there for only about an hour. As I get more information in the next few days I will send it your way)

Indianapolis

Event: Demonstration outside Eli-Lilly Shareholder Demo
When: Monday, April 21, 10:00 to 11am
Where: Lilly Corporate Center, 893 S. Delaware St, Indianapolis
Contact: Virginia, 757-943-7446

Details:

Pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly is reducing research and development costs by outsourcing to Asia, where no laws exist to protect animals in laboratories. In the United States, Eli Lilly has failed to extend its animal welfare policy to contract labs, including Covance [www.covancecruelty.com]―a lab that was cited by the USDA for putting animals in cages that are too small, and for yelling, hitting, and using unnecessary force on primates. Jennifer Adams, a PETA Corporate Affairs representative, will be presenting a shareholder resolution to the other investors of Eli-Lilly inside the building.

Six cages will be erected outside of the entrance to the Lilly Corporate Center Auditorium. Inside, activists dressed as business men and women will be holding signs reading: "Eli Lilly Funds Chinese Torture". If you can help or have any questions, please contact Virginia at 757-943-7446. (We ask that everyone attending this demo be dressed in business attire.)
